Spend pleasant summer evenings on one of the beautifully decorated terraces of restaurants and café bars, dancing or taking a leisurely stroll along the sea. You can also visit one of the interesting cultural and artistic events. In the late hours of the night, life moves from the city to nearby disco clubs and similar attractive venues where, in a hot rhythm, under the open sky, you can have fun until the morning.
History and Culture
In Lopar, at a place called, a settlement was founded that lasted and lived continuously through the younger stone age, then the copper and bronze ages until the 4th century AD, when an ancient Greek military fortress grew up on the aforementioned location, the remains of which, together with remains from previous periods, still testify to the history of this place today.
The place is associated with the legend of St. Marin, who was born in Lopar more than 17 centuries ago. Practicing the craft of a stonemason, in search of work he ends up on the Apennine Peninsula where he gains the trust of the local Christian community. He was exiled for his Christian beliefs and settled on the inaccessible Mount Titan, where he built a small church that soon became a gathering place for many who found their new home there. These were the foundations on which the present-day city of San Marino, a small state of the same name, later sprang up, where the saint’s last remains are still kept.
Agriculture
For those of you looking for an active holiday, we will provide you with a pleasant socializing with the hosts while they go about their daily business. You can try your hand at feeding domestic animals, doing field work, and preparing Lopar dishes… Thanks to the many fertile fields in our household, there is always natural and healthy homemade food.
Fishing
A unique way for our guests to get to know the sea and the charms of fishing is by net “trawl”. That day you will be accompanied by real fishermen and in many cases dolphins will accompany us on our journey. And so that it doesn’t all boil down to fishing, at the end of the day we prepare dinner from the fish caught in the net, prepared in the fisherman’s way.
How to get to us?
If you are coming to the Island of Rab by car, you can come from two directions:
- Way
From the north, the Island of Rab is connected by the Valbiska-Lopar ferry line, which has recently become increasingly interesting to guests due to its proximity to Rijeka and the airport. The ride takes 90 minutes and is extremely attractive because you replace the 90-minute drive on a winding road with a panoramic boat ride.
When you land in the Port of Lopar, head along the main road towards the San Marino hotel complex (approx. 2500 meters from the ferry port). The “Dragica” guesthouse is located right next to the “San Marino” hotel complex. - Way
From the south, the Island of Rab is connected by the Jablanac-Mišnjak ferry line. Rapska plovidba ferries operate 8-20 times a day (more often if necessary). The ride takes about 15 minutes.
